Kristen's official bio
Kristen Vengler is a single empty-nester and former veteran middle school teacher whose life was turned upside down after being “canceled” from a job she loved. Desperate to regain control of her spiritual, mental and physical health, she entered recovery for alcohol and trauma in her hometown of San Diego where she relocated in January, 2020.
Less than a year later she had that moment in the shower we all dread. Diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer (in the middle of a pandemic), she did what you’re supposed to do in this situation… started recording a podcast with her bestie and put her heart and soul out there hoping to help others, of course!
Breast Cancer Stories is Kristen’s story told in real time, from the first day of chemo through the reconstructive surgery and beyond. Kristen’s innate style of teaching others, raw vulnerability, and unwillingness to tolerate even a tiny amount of bull$%it resonates deeply with others facing a similar diagnosis.
More than a podcast, it’s a companion to others going through it and the people close to them. Throughout Season 1, countless women in the same situation have reached out to say thank you for the real time, vulnerable approach. Season 2 is in production now and expected to be launched this summer.

This podcast has so much to offer in the way of candid and personal insight into something that is a vast nightmare for so many women I know. Whether you are in the trenches, a survivor, or a woman that has never had breast cancer, like me - Kristen tells her story in a way that we can all relate to. Her chronological blow by blow medical procedure descriptions paint a very helpful picture in what to expect if you or a loved one were to cross her same path.
